Angels and Contact With Angels

Angels have been a part of human existence since the beginning of time. The early Egyptians viewed them as gods. The Hebrews and ancient Greeks considered angels to be messengers from the Divine. Angels are found extensively in the visual arts. A belief in angels is not necessary in order to be protected by them. Whether we believe in angels or not is irrelevant to their existence.

Angels are all around us, most often in the form of thoughts and energy. We can't see thoughts or energy or angels, but they are there as prayers, invisible protection, and feelings of comfort and inner peace. Angels give us ideas. They inspire us to act. They guide us. Angels help us in a myriad of ways. They are thoughts. They are energy. They are messengers. They are prayers.

The word "angel" comes from the Greek "angelo" which means "messenger." Angels are usually depicted with wings because the messages they bring are from God whose realm is often associated with the clouds above. The perceived distance between the Divine, between God and the physical world is bridged with the thought of the winged beings flying between the two realms.

Art, literature, music, and even philosophy feature multiple references to angels throughout the ages. While there has always been a curiosity about the Divine, interest in angels seems to heighten during times of turmoil and threat. Angels were more numerous in the art works of the turbulent Roman Empire 2,000 years ago and again during the time of the Catholic Inquisition following the Renaissance and during the Baroque era of the 16th and 17th centuries. The fear and threat of danger connected with the end of the 20th century and the beginning of a new millennium brought about a renewed interest in angels. Before 1990, relatively few angel books were available in bookstores. Ten years later, rows of bookshelves were filled with angel-related literature. Today, angels are everywhere, in bookstores, in gift shops, even in grocery stores and on prime time TV.

Why are the angels appearing everywhere in so many different ways? Because Angels are protectors. They choose a variety of means to communicate with us. Sometimes they appear as gut reactions, sometimes as a feeling, and sometimes as an idea or an inspiration. Angels are thoughts and energy. We can feel their presence. Sometimes these thoughts or energies take on visible form.

In times of stress and turmoil, we need never feel alone. I am convinced angels are always around us, during good times as well as difficult moments.” How do I know this? Because I have experienced the presence of angels all my life.

In my book, Angels – The Divine Connection , I describe my personal encounters with angelic forces. It was especially during moments of danger, doubt, and fear that I felt an energy protecting me from imminent harm. At other times, when despair seemed insurmountable, a sudden feeling of warmth and comfort would bathe me with inner peace.

For years, I kept my angelic experiences to myself, because I was afraid no one would believe me. My long-standing academic career as a college professor and my reputation as an inspirational lecturer were too important to me.

As my experiences became more numerous over the years, I began an academic research of angels in a variety of fields including art, music, literature, and history. Had there been doubt before, my research would have convinced me that I was never alone. Daring potential academic ridicule, I shared my research for the first time in 1991 at the National Conference of Literature and Film sponsored by Florida State University. To my surprise, reactions to the presentation and my angel research were met with considerable interest within and beyond the academic community.

Following that academic angel presentation, I received numerous invitations to speak about angels. At the request of individuals interested in my work, I began writing angel articles and subsequently published my first book on angels.

“How do you connect with the angels?” is one of the most frequently asked questions. My answer is “through prayer and meditation.” At the request of a number of individuals, I created guidelines packaged in the “Angel Gift Collection .” This Collection contains the book, Angels – The Divine Connection , an instruction card, a meditative music CD, a candle, and the Angel Connection Journal to facilitate a connection with angels.

This is the first website dedicated to creating a large-scale awareness of the energy of angels in our daily lives. Watch for new information as this site is developed.
